I recently visited the Morton Arboretum and as i was walking through it and experiencing all that nature had to offer me i could almost hear the beat of my heart going faster and faster. I almost could not keep up with all those magic, sublime emotions i was encountering. Every single image got imprinted in my mind and all the sensational aromas, colors, shapes and textures are still blending in my thoughts creating the glorious emotion of nature love which i almost never felt before. Since that day i can listen to the natures voice. I try to understand and respect her by being closer to the environment and making my best not to pollute it.

I feel a metaphor coming on--
gaggle of geese, gaggle of students;
shrinking habitat, crowded halls;
importance of lush watering holes, importance of nurturing educational environment;
Is the water drinkable?, Are the resources adequate?;

How long will they stay here before they move on?

Do you appreciate the distance they travel?

A few months ago, I watched a beautiful movie called Winged Migration. The visuals are stunning as the film takes the viewers along the migratory paths of birds traveling south for the winter. I never really appreciated the distance they travel or the importance of resting at lush watering holes, something more difficult as human construction expands.

I was reminded of this movie a couple weeks ago when I discovered a gaggle of geese outside my apartment lurking around the man-made pond on the property. I can't help wondering if the pond water is actually drinkable and how long they will stay here before they move on.

You can see the trailer of the movie at its official website: http://www.sonyclassics.com/wingedmigration/home.html

Caring Community
I have discovered that we have a community that really cares about the environment. I was lucky enough to attend the Earth Summit at the Wheaton Franciscan's Campus on Saturday. The opening ritual was beautiful. Our very own College of DuPage Chamber Singers performed and it was truly moving. The original song composed by Professor Lee Kesselman and performed by the singers gave me goosebumps. I've learned that College of DuPage students are very talented and care very deeply.
